The Austrian Open 2015 was held in Vienna on June 14th, 2015. This tournament was organised for the 9th time in a row. We are very glad and proud that we could establish and spread the name of Shinkyokushin Karate in Austria, especially in Vienna. A look back at the history of our tournament evokes a very positive development during these nine years. Our endeavour and hard work to make Shinkyokushin Karate popular and practiced by different aged people have been successful, therefore a great number of countries and participants come each year to our tournament, since we offer a fantastic tournament atmosphere and hard competition with numerous excellent fighters.
The greatness of this event consisted of the participation of 236 fighter from 11 countries. Austria, Poland, Germany, Bulgaria, Hungary, Russia, Georgia, Czech Republic, Spain, Sweden, and Croatia sent great fighters to this tournament. The joy and seriousness of the competitors in kumite/kata in all categories (cadets, juniors, or adults) were visible, because they shared the spirit of Shinkyokushin to fight and never give up. The growing number of participants in our tournaments each year paves the path for a successful future for our organization here in Austria, therefore we send our appreciation and great respect to all fighters and our congratulations to the winners in all categories.
I hereby would like to also send my special thanks to Shihan Wieslaw Gwizd and Shihan Bogdan Jeremicz from Poland, for accepting the very important and hard role of being the main judge.
The organizer of this event was Austrian Shinkyokushin Karate Organization and AFKO-Austrian Fullcontact Karate Organization led by WKO Branch Chief Marek Kubek.
