Date: May 31–June 1, 2019
Place: Greenfield Park, Quebec, Canada
Organizer: Branch Chief Alain Bordeleau and Branch Chief Normand Bordeleau
On Friday May 31st, thirteen candidates presented themselves at the Greenfield Park Dojo for their grading exam: there were two candidates for the 3rd Dan, two candidates for 2nd Dan and nine candidates for the 1st Dan. The evening started with the written exams, which was followed by katas and self-defence technics. On Saturday June 1st, the candidates started the day with a three-hour training, followed by the breaking with the hands and feet and finally with the combat portion of the Dan exam, which ended very late in the evening. The 3rd Dan candidates successfully completed their 30 combats, the 2nd Dan candidates also successfully completed their 20 combats and 1st Dan candidates were also successful and completed their 15 combats. During the two days, these thirteen karatekas demonstrated a “Budo Spirit”, by persevering, demonstrating their determination and showing a great deal of courage. More than hundred karatekas participated and encouraged the candidates; without this support their grading would have been meaningless. The candidates have successfully met all the requirements and we hope that these new Shodan, Nidan and Sandan will continue to be an example for the young and older karatekas. Shihan Alain Bordeleau and Shihan Normand Bordeleau are extremely proud of what they have achieved! Osu.
