Place: Johannesburg, South Africa
Organizer: South Africa Branch Shinji Sugimori 1st Dan
The Johannesburg Nippon Club Spring Festival was held on October 5, 2013, and 6 members of the South Africa Branch participated in the event. With the help and understanding of the Organizing Committee, a 30 minute demonstration was held from 10:00, and a 30 minute try-out lesson from 14:00.
At the demonstration, the 500 locals at the event were very much entertained by the board breaking of the South Africa Branch members. After the demonstration, we were given the honor to greet Mr. Yutaka Yoshizawa, the Ambassador of Japan to the Republic of South Africa, and he and his wife seemed happy to see Karate, a beautiful Japanese culture, in South Africa.
At the try-out lesson, which had about 40 participants, we taught and had them train simple techniques, and they seemed to enjoy the Karate atmosphere.
The demonstration and try-out lesson was carried out safely, due to the understanding and support of the Embassy of Japan, Nippon Club, Japanese School, PTA members, the participants and their families, and all related parties. Thank you very much.
