Dear Branch Chiefs and Contacts,
Thank you for your continuous support towards the further development of WKO.
In this prolonged COVID-19 crisis, the approach may differ for various countries in the world, but in general, I feel that we are gradually approaching the exit for this crisis. Due to the ongoing restrictions on international travel, exchanges in camps, seminars, and tournaments have not been possible, but with a little more patience, it appears that the time will come when we will be able to resume our long-awaited international activities.
For the 7th World Karate Championship in Weight Categories, which had been postponed due to the COVID-19 crisis, it has been decided by the WKO Board to organize the tournament as scheduled on September 24-25. Based on this decision, an online meeting was held with the Poland Branch, the host country of the tournament, and while discussing the preparation work that they have built up, we confirmed our strong resolve to overcome the various obstacles related to the organization of the series of events. For the various regions in WKO, with our challenge to organize this international/world tournament, let us honor the efforts of the competitors who have been looking forward to this international stage for a long time. On the occasion of this tournament, we will be holding a seminar and various meetings, and such information will be provided in the appropriate manner, so I kindly ask for your cooperation towards the related procedures. WKO will move forward.
April 26 was the anniversary of the death of Sosai Masutatsu Oyama. It has already been 28 years since that day when we were struck with surprise and sadness. Even in this COVID-19 crisis, a strong bond connects our comrades around the world. More than anything, the spirit of Kyokushin, founded by Sosai Oyama, is the true essence of this bond. On this day, which has a special meaning for us, I visited Gokokuji Temple, where Sosai Oyama rests. In Tokyo, the cherry blossom season had passed, so the area around the temple was full of fresh green leaves. The rain that had continued until the day before stopped, and in the warm spring sunshine, I cleaned his grave, offered flowers and incense, and made a greeting. While feeling the presence of Sosai when he was still with us in the silent breeze, I closed my eyes in silent prayer and reported our activities, while also expressing our appreciation for teaching and passing on its foundation to us. I also shared the feelings of the members around the world, since it is difficult to visit his grave in this COVID-19 crisis.
As WKO, we are concentrating our efforts on the worldwide standardization of the Full Contact Karate competition. While joining hands with the leaders of the 352 groups and organizations in Japan, the mother country of Karate, and with the spirit of harmony to prioritize the united front over minor differences, to accept matters and understand each other, and within the harmony of the Japan Fullcontact Karate Organization, national and international tournaments have been organized. This activity started in March 2013, and we have entered our 10th year. To mark this turning point, the 1st All Japan Youth Championship was organized, widening the range of the united front. While having the inclusion of the competition in the Olympic Games as a grand goal, to appeal the clear differences between Non Contact and Full Contact, and without giving up on our individuality, and without wavering in our stance, we have played an important role in the activities related to the world standard. For the future, on the occasion of the above-mentioned World Championship in Weight Categories, we aim to further evolve the international federation for the Full Contact Karate competition.
As the 103rd affiliated country/area, Malta has joined WKO. This is great news. For the members of Malta, let us join hands and continue our development together. It is often said that people tend to gather at places where people are already gathered, but it is important for us to maintain our focus so that we can be an organization where people will want to gather, and continue to walk together towards the future. For the situation in Ukraine, the necessary details have been shared in the recent news that was announced. I sincerely hope and pray for the return of world peace as soon as possible.
I am very much looking forward to meeting all of you in Poland this September. For the Branch Chiefs and Contacts, let us take good care of our health, so that we can meet each other again in good condition.

Уважаемые Бранч Чифы и Руководители спортивных залов!
Большое вам спасибо за вашу постоянную поддержку нашей организации WKO. В длительном кризисе COVID-19, подход и меры к нему отличаются в отдельных странах в мире, но я чувствую, что мы потихоньку приближаемся к выходу из этого кризиса. Из-за различных ограничений в международных путешествиях, наши совместные лагеря, семинары, и турниры никак не могли быть организованы, но, мне кажется, проявив небольшое терпение, наступит время, когда мы сможем возобновить наши долгожданные международные мероприятия.
Касательно 7-го Мирового Чемпионата Карате в Весовых Категориях, который был отложен из-за кризиса COVID-19, в правлении членов WKO принято решение провести этот турнир согласно расписанию 24-25-го сентября. На основе этого решения, мы провели онлайн конференцию с Бранчем Польши, страны-хозяйки этого турнира. Узнав об их подготовительной работе, мы решили преодолеть различные препятствия для реализации турнира. Обращаясь ко всем товарищам из различных регионов в мире, мы решительно настроены реализовать международный турнир, и достойно отплатить за усилия борцов, которые долгое время ожидали своего возвращения на международную трибуну. По случаю этого турнира, мы планируем провести семинар и различные совещания, и такая программа будет проинформирована вам в установленном порядке, и я прошу вашего любезного содействия в этом процессе. Организация WKO будет двигаться вперед.
26 апреля была годовщина смерти Сосай Масутацу Ояма. Прошло уже 28 лет с того дня, когда мы были поражены глубоким горем и неожиданностью. Даже в условиях кризиса, вызванного COVID-19, прочная связь соединяет нас с нашими товарищами по всему миру. Больше всего, сила духа Кёкусин, созданная Сосай Ояма, является истинной сущностью этой связи. В этот день, имеющий особое значение для нас, я посетил храм Гококудзи, где вечным сном покоится Сосай Ояма. В Токио уже закончился сезон цветения сакуры, и площадка вокруг собора заполнена свежими зелеными листьями. Дождь, прошедший накануне, прекратился, и под теплом весенним солнцем я очистил его могилу, возложил на нее цветы и благовония, и поклонился. Чувствуя присутствие Сосай Ояма тогдашнего дня в легком ветерке, я закрыл глаза в молитве про себя, и доложил ему нашу активность, и кроме того, выразил нашу благодарность за то, чему он научил нас и проложил фундамент нашей работы. Я также передал ему приветы от всех вас, членов вокруг мира, так как визиты в Японию были невозможны в COVID-19.
Мы как WKO, сосредоточим наши усилия на всемирной стандартизации соревнования Фул Контакт Карате. До сих пор мы организовали национальные и международные соревнования в рамке активности Японской Организации Фул Контакт Карате, общественной юридической организации, действуя рука об руку с руководителями 352 групп и организаций в Японии, родине Карате, отдавая больше предпочтения солидарности чем мелким различиям во мнениях, и принимая основное дело с взаимопониманием. Эта деятельность началась в марте 2013, и вступила в свой десятый год в этом году. И чтобы отметить это поворотное событие, был проведен 1-ый Всеяпонский Турнир Молодого Поколения, и благодаря этому сразу расширился единый фронт в широком масштабе. Мы активнее занимались стандартизацией соревнований в мире, имея перспективы включения в Олимпийские Игры, объясняя принципиальную разницу между Контактным Карате и Бесконтактным Карате, не отказываясь от нашей индивидуальности, и не колеблясь в своей позиции. В дальнейшем, по случаю упомянутого Мирового Чемпионата в Весовых Категориях, мы намерены еще больше развивать международную федерацию для соревнований Фул Контакт Карате.
Я хочу сообщить вам приятную новость о том, что Мальта присоединились к нашей организации. Для членов Мальты: давайте возьмемся за руки и продолжим активно развиваться вместе. У нас часто говорят, что люди имеют тенденцию собираться в месте, где люди уже собрались. Нам важно сфокусироваться на том, чтобы мы всегда могли сохранять организацию, где люди хотят собираться и продолжать идти вместе вперед в будущее.
Что касается ситуации на Украине, я изложил мою точку зрения в предыдущем письме. Я сердечно надеюсь и молюсь о скорейшем возвращении мира в нашем мире.
